Mafia Trilogy Announced
Mafia 2 & 3 released today
Today 2K announced remasters of Mafia 2 & 3 are available for immediate download. They also announced if you purchased Mafia 2 on Steam or Mafia 3 on Steam or console, you would receive a free upgrade to the remastered versions. Both Mafia 2 & 3 released to mediocre reviews citing bland open worlds and uninspired game mechanics, but there’s definitely something there for fans of the genre. Both games shine with well produced cinematics and really nail the settings, fictional versions of 1950’s New York and late 1960’s New Orleans respectively. The remasters feature 4K graphics and the inclusion of narrative and cosmetic DLC. They are available individually for $29.99 each or as part of the Mafia Trilogy for $59.99.
Mafia: Definitive Edition to Release August 28th
The original Mafia was release in 2002 on PC and in 2004 on PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Mafia told the story of Tommy Angelo, a taxi driver in Lost Heaven in the 1930s. Angelo unwittingly gets caught up in an attempted hit and becomes a key figure in an all out war between the Salieri and Morello crime families. The soon to be released version is a complete remake, adding narrative elements as well as expanded the fictional city in which the events take place. Much like Mafia 2 & 3, the original was a 3rd person action game (mostly shooter) in an open world with a major focus on setting. Mafia received outstanding reviews at the time of its release and may be worth the price of the upgraded trilogy on its own. However, you will have the option to purchase it separately for $39.99 this summer.
All 3 games will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC via Steam with an Epic Game Store release at a later date.
